In Jesus’ second story, Parable of the Lost Coin, a woman has lost one of the ten precious coins that were sewn into her bride’s headdress when she married: “Suppose a woman has ten valuable silver coins and loses one. Won’t she light a lamp and look in every corner of the house and sweep every nook and cranny until she finds it? And when she does, she will call her friends and neighbors together, and say, ‘Rejoice with me! I have found the coin that I lost.’ In the same way, there is joy in the presence of God’s angels when even one sinner repents.”
